About

This blog is the story of my journey with God. Due to an injury, I've been a shut-in for almost 4 years. After close to a year of being alone 16-20 hours almost every day, God began to pursue me. Very early in my transformation, He led me to a God-friend, Jacob, with whom I've shared the details of my journey. Jacob, raised in the Church of the Nazarene and with a strong faith and knowledge of the Bible, has been teacher, counselor and friend. For the first few years we knew each other, we primarily communicated by text. Every few months before he cleared our messages from his phone, Jacob would send me a document containing all our conversations, so I have an almost complete history of our talks about my journey with God.

Initially, I started writing this blog as a way to compile our texts so they would be in a more reader-friendly format, because there were times we wanted to revisit a discussion and finding the exact texts among thousands and then tens of thousands was daunting. I never intended to share this with anyone except Jacob. Then God began quietly prompting me to publish the blog. Led by the Spirit, I began rewriting my experiences to share my testimony of Our Living God.

On Sunday, January 22, 2017, I received a clear message from God that He wanted me to make the blog public. (That message isn't a blog yet, but it will be eventually.) To be honest, I'm not all that comfortable sharing this private part of my life, but when God inspires us to do something, I believe we should have faith, trust and jump. This is me jumping.

The format of the blog is simple. I write the blog and then below it, I include an excerpt on the topic from my conversation with Jacob. I asked Jacob's permission before I began making these blog posts public. As always, he was supportive and open to whatever God has in store for us. Not only do I appreciate him allowing me to share his part in this as my God-friend, but also for the several times I've been trying to build the courage to jump and he has helped me strengthen my faith so I could move forward.

As to my capacity to hear God. I know people may want to argue the point of what I hear—if it is God the Father or the Holy Spirit, if I can actually hear God, etc. Truthfully, I don't have those answers. I'm new to all this, but what I do know is that I sit in silence for most of the day, almost every day, and in that silence I hear God. From my perspective there is no other explanation for these experiences. Most important to my journey, when I hear Him, I try to follow His will for me.

Lastly, God has made me a vessel of prayer for others. If you need prayer, you can make a request by clicking on the "Prayer Request" tab in the menu bar or you can directly message me at: prayer@talkingwithjacob.com My hope for this blog is that God uses it to spread the amazing message of Our Living God.
